Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of Ipswich Town star Omari Hutchinson in a club record deal worth £37m.
Forest had a £35m bid rejected for Hutchinson who has been on the club’s radar for the majority of the transfer window, seen as an ideal replacement for the departed Anthony Elanga.
Even after Forest signed Dan Ndoye, Hutchinson clearly remained on the radar of Edu and the recruitment team, eventually agreeing a fee for the Ipswich man.
With Hutchinson’s medical completed, the club have now officially announced the arrival of the England U21 international to the delight of the City Ground faithful.

Nottingham Forest confirm Omari Hutchinson capture
Arriving on the eve of the Premier League opener against Brentford, Hutchinson has not been signed early enough to be able to feature in the game, but will undoubtedly be presented at the City Ground nonetheless.
In the announcement on the Forest website, the club said: “Nottingham Forest is delighted to announce the signing of Omari Hutchinson, who has signed a five-year deal.
“The midfielder joins having been a key figure for England as the Young Lions lifted the U21 Euros in Bratislava this summer. Hutchinson scored the second goal of the game as the Young Lions won 3-2 against Germany to become European Champions.
“[…] A pacy player who enjoys 1v1 scenarios, Hutchinson can operate off both wings and play centrally behind the striker.”
Everyone at the club will be delighted to get the deal over the line, with Chief Football Officer Ross Wilson expressing his excitement about Hutchinson’s arrival.
Ross Wilson comments on Omari Hutchinson signing
Given Nuno Espírito Santo’s concerns over the Forest squad, Hutchinson’s arrival will be of great relief to the manager, albeit he’ll have to wait to see the new man in action.
In the announcement, Wilson said: “Omari is a really exciting addition to the squad. He’s coming off a fantastic summer, winning the U21 European Championship alongside Elliot, and arrives here full of confidence.
“He joins an already talented group of players and adds another layer of quality and energy to our attacking options. We’re looking forward to seeing him thrive in a Forest shirt.”
Adding quality is the name of the game for the Reds this summer, with James McAtee and Arnaud Kalimuendo set to follow Hutchinson through the door imminently.
