Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of Swiss international winger Dan Ndoye from Bologna, ending the search for Anthony Elanga’s replacement.

Forest made significant moves to secure the deal after Evangelos Marinakis took control of negotiations for Ndoye, with a deal worth an initial £35m enough to convince Bologna.

It looked as if the Reds would have difficulties securing the signing after Italian champions Napoli also made offers for Ndoye, but Napoli weren’t willing to meet Bologna’s demands to hand Forest the advantage.

With his medical completed, Ndoye has officially been announced in the Garibaldi red, providing the centrepiece to Forest’s new look attack.

Nottingham Forest announce Dan Ndoye signing

It’s become clear that Nuno Espírito Santo chose Ndoye over Johan Bakayoko, so the Portuguese boss will be particularly delighted to see this deal get over the line, with the official club media channels now confirming his arrival.

A statement on Forest’s website said: “Nottingham Forest is delighted to confirm the signing of Dan Ndoye, who has signed a five-year deal.

“The Swiss international arrives from Bologna, where he played 75 times for the Serie A side having joined in the summer of 2023. The 2024/25 season was a particularly successful year, with Ndoye scoring the only goal in the Coppa Italia final to earn Bologna’s first major trophy in over 50 years.

“The 24-year-old also played in all of the Italian side’s eight Champions League matches, featuring in 41 games across the season, scoring nine times.

“His impressive record last season was not just as a goal scorer, but as a creative playmaker. Ndoye registered 6 assists and his impressive ball-carrying stats were bettered by only five players in Serie A in 2024/25.”

With Ndoye over the line, Reds fans can celebrate a week that has been full of good news as the Premier League season draws closer.

Dan Ndoye deal continues the good news at Nottingham Forest

After Morgan Gibbs-White signed a new contract, Forest’s transfer window is suddenly looking a lot more positive than in previous weeks.

Gibbs-White accepted a £150k per week deal to continue to dictate the play for the Reds, with new teammate Ndoye set to hugely benefit from his ability on the ball.

Albeit not as fast as Elanga, Ndoye possesses incredible pace, which should allow Espírito Santo to continue to exploit the right side with width and directness, just as the Swede did to tremendous effect last season.

It remains to be seen what Marinakis has in store for the rest of the window, but things are certainly looking up at the City Ground.
