Nottingham Forest are ramping up their efforts to sign RC Strasbourg winger Dilane Bakwa.

Nuno Espirito Santo has already added Omari Hutchinson and Dan Ndoye to his winger ranks, but the club are keen to get another through the door.

With Anthony Elanga and Ramon Sosa departing and potentially still Jota Silva to leave, there was a pressing need to address that area of the pitch.

Bakwa is the top target Nottingham Forest have identified after his productive campaign in Ligue 1 last term, netting six goals whilst laying on nine assists.

And now, there has just been a major update on that potential transfer.

Nottingham Forest agree personal terms with Dilane Bakwa

It’s understood Forest will have to wait until Thursday if they’re to sign Bakwa, as Strasbourg have an important Conference League play-off game to play.

Once that fixture has commenced, a final decision will be made on the 22-year-old winger and it seems like Forest are well-placed to land his signature.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, the Tricky Trees have agreed personal terms with Bakwa, leaving just the transfer fee to be resolved.

Forest saw a £30m bid rejected on the weekend, but they have maintained talks with the French outfit to close the deal.

Leeds United are also circling, but Forest are evidently more advanced in the race.

What kind of player is Dilane Bakwa?

Bakwa has been described as a very ‘direct’ winger and he likes to utilise his pace by slowing down the play before bursting past his full-back.

“Bakwa likes to take on his direct opponent, frequently leaving them behind with his close control and body feints,” Breaking The Lines wrote.

“His stand-start dribbling style—a hallmark of his game—allows him to get past defenders with ease and create space for himself or his teammates.

“Bakwa’s ability to deceive defenders is excellent. He averages 4.55 shot-creating actions per 90 and draws 3.13 fouls per 90. His dual ability to either hug the byline and whip in crosses (5.87 crosses per game) or cut inside to deliver a pass from the half-space makes him unpredictable and a constant threat.”

That tactical analysis suggests Bakwa is of a very similar profile to Elanga, so it sounds like he’ll slot right into Nuno’s system if he joins.
