With five days left in the transfer window, the conversation around Nottingham Forest is currently revolving around drama away from the market.
Nuno Espírito Santo wants three more signings before the end of the window, with full-backs and competition in goal the priority before the 1st of September.
However, Nuno has admitted his relationship with Evangelos Marinakis has fractured which has somewhat dampened the positive narrative around the club.
With the subsequent reports detailing Nuno’s issues with Edu, the noise has distracted from the imminent departure of another key figure at the City Ground.

Latest on Ross Wilson’s move to Newcastle United
Edu’s arrival at Forest brought into question the role that Sporting Director Ross Wilson played at the club, given the crossover between their remits under Marinakis.
Wilson has been heavily linked with Newcastle and their vacant Sporting Director role, but with the story going quiet, Forest expert Daniel Taylor provided the latest on Wilson.
Speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast, Taylor said: “I think, once the transfer window has finished, there’ll be some sort of announcement that he’s [Ross Wilson] going to Newcastle.”
It looks as if the deal is very much still on, then, with the Magpies perhaps not wanting to add such a senior figure to their team with little time left in the window.
Therefore, Wilson will complete what must’ve been a turbulent transfer window for him at Forest, but Taylor went on to describe the role the Scotsman has actually played in the recruitment this summer.
Ross Wilson’s role at Nottingham Forest amid Newcastle interest
Wilson has commented on Forest’s summer signings via the club’s official confirmation articles, but little has been made of whether he is actually leading any of the boardroom business.
According to Taylor, though, he has been on the outside of the Reds’ summer business, but perhaps not solely due to the Newcastle rumours.
Taylor continued: “He [Wilson] does a lot of stuff at Forest and he’s a big figure there, but he’s not been particularly involved in the recruitment. He’s not the guy who picks the next striker; they’ve got various others who do that.”
Alongside scouts and analysts, it looks as if Edu will be the frontman for Forest’s recruitment in the future, with Wilson’s imminent departure not necessarily set to leave the gap it would’ve done before the Brazilian’s arrival.
