After a spending spree this summer at Nottingham Forest, many players of last season’s squad have fallen out of favour.
One of these players is Jota Silva, who is heavily linked to Sporting CP.
The Portuguese club were confident about signing the winger, but the latest news coming out from Portugal doesn’t bode well.
A deal was reportedly agreed in principle, allowing Jota Silva to make the move to the green and whites, but it has now hit a stumbling block.

Evangelos Marinakis is at the centre of the saga, and has seemingly blocked the move due to one thing that Sporting did.
Evangelos Marinakis blocks Jota Silva to Sporting due to Panathinaikos transfer
Evangelos Marinakis has blocked Jota Silva’s proposed move to Sporting CP due to the Portuguese club agreeing a deal with Panathinaikos for forward Fotis Ioannidis, according to A Bola.
Sporting have reportedly agreed a €25 million (£22 million) package for Ioannidis, landing a double blow to the Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos owner.

The report by the Portuguese outlet says that Marinakis was hoping that the Lions would make a move for Rio Ave’s Clayton, another club that the Greek owns.
Meanwhile, Sporting have now provided Panathinaikos with more funds to strengthen in the transfer market. Panathinaikos are Olympiacos’ biggest rivals in Greece.
Jota Silva still wants Sporting move to go through before deadline
Jota Silva is still extremely keen on making the switch to Sporting. The player is determined to reunite with Rui Borges, his former coach at Vitoria de Guimarães.
Jota has said he would reduce his wage demands in order to make the move happen.
The move being blocked is quite petty from Marinakis, and Jota Silva will be well aware of how few minutes he will get if the transfer doesn’t go through.
The arrival of Omari Hutchinson and Dan Ndoye has provided more competition out wide, and getting in over them will be an immeasurable task this season.
Jorge Mendes is working on the deal, and is using his good relationships with both clubs to try to find a solution.
If Marinakis doesn’t change his mind, then Jota Silva could find himself having to search for another move away before the window closes.
