When West Ham visit the City Ground on Sunday, there will be a record they hope to break against Nottingham Forest that has stood for 29 years.
Coming into the game, both managers’ futures were put into question, but Nuno and Evangelos Marinakis seem to be on good terms now.
For Nuno Espirito Santo, all focus is on facing West Ham, and the Portuguese has warned Forest fans not to be complacent.
Nottingham Forest fans will of course be confident, considering the form both teams are in, but there is a record that will only fuel that confidence even further.

West Ham have not scored at the City Ground in the Premier League since 1996
Goals win you football matches, and West Ham’s record at the City Ground in the Premier League bodes well for Nottingham Forest.
The Hammers have not scored away to Forest in the Premier League in 29 years. The last player to do so was Michael Hughes in a 2-0 loss for the Garibaldi back in 1996.
Albeit, while they have only faced each other four times since the mid-90s in England’s top flight, it is a record that the club will want to extend.
| Last four results vs West Ham at home | Season |
| 3-0 win | 2024/2025 |
| 2-0 win | 2023/2024 |
| 1-0 win | 2022/2023 |
| 0-0 draw | 1998/1999 |
After all, if the record is still in place after Sunday’s game, it means Nuno’s side have come out with at least one point.
However, with the form of West Ham, expectations will certainly be on securing the win.
Nottingham Forest are struggling to keep clean sheets
Extending that record may be difficult for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. While they are known to be resolute defensively, their clean sheet record of late isn’t the best.
Nottingham Forest have not kept a clean sheet in their last ten Premier League matches, and only Fulham (11) have a longer streak without keeping one.
The last time the Tricky Trees stopped a team from scoring was against Manchester United in a 1-0 win back on the 1st of April.
This means unless Sunday’s match ends as a goalless draw, at least one of these records will be broken.
Hope among Forest fans will certainly be that they come out on the positive side, and they can finally achieve a clean sheet, and come out with all three points.
