Nottingham Forest disappointingly crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, with Simon Jordan now suggesting how Evangelos Marinakis may have reacted to the defeat.
Ange Postecoglou criticised Forest’s attacking after the 3-2 defeat in South Wales as his much-changed side had more than enough chances to finish the game off when they led 2-0.
To his credit, though, Postecoglou acknowledged the Forest fans at the full-time whistle, who had endured difficult conditions to see their side squander a two-goal lead.
Potentially as expected, this defeat has led to intense criticism being aimed at the recently appointed Forest head coach, but Jordan expects that Marinakis is remaining cool about the situation.

As soon as Nuno Espírito Santo was sacked, it became clear that Postecoglou was Marinakis’ dream appointment, making the Australian’s arrival a swift one.
Two defeats from two games is not the ideal start, though, but Jordan believes that the Carabao Cup exit won’t be one that will have worried the Forest owner.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I don’t think the League Cup matters to Marinakis […] because he’s got the Europa League. The Europa League is what I believe Marinakis wants to win and I’ve said that from the outset.
“They’ve seen what happened last year, they’ve seen what opportunities it presents. […] The League Cup won’t be a big thing for Marinakis and I’m pretty sure he’ll take it with a pinch of salt. Postecoglou will be disappointed that his words weren’t backed up by the deeds of his team, and on they’ll go.”
A measured prediction from Jordan that most likely rings true, with the wider context of the season making the Swansea game a less crucial one. The talkSPORT presenter has also jumped to the defence of Postecoglou, too, urging the media to give him time to develop his Forest side.

Postecoglou was heard shouting in the dressing room after the Swansea game which clearly indicates his frustration at the result, but he’ll know better than anybody that his side should’ve seen that game out without a problem.
It’s not a time to panic after two games, with Jordan suggesting that the Australian needs more time to properly embed himself into the club.
He continued: “When Bournemouth smashed 5 past Forest last season, were those the defensive frailties that Postecoglou brings to Forest?
“He cannot have much influence in this dressing room, he’s been there for five minutes, so we cannot judge him on this. It’s a very lazy narrative to say ‘here comes Ange Postecoglou, he can’t defend.'”
Patience is the key, then, but Postecoglou will be hoping that his squad can learn from the missed opportunities against Swansea and show a more clinical side on Saturday against Burnley.
