Nottingham Forest have a concerning stat that Ange Postecoglou must address

Ange Postecoglou has taken over from Nuno Espirito Santo at Nottingham Forest and a lot of changes are expected to take place in terms of style.

Postecoglou’s style requires a lot more tempo than his Portuguese predecessor, and that could also mean the Tricky Trees are more open at the back.

Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo have been tipped to struggle under Ange due to the philosophy of the head coach.

There is now a stat that does not make for good reading and one that the Australian will have to address if he wants to succeed at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest are in bottom five for xG conceded

Last season Nottingham Forest were one of the best defensive sides proven by Matz Sels picking up the Golden Glove award for his performances in the previous campaign.

However, this season, they have not been anywhere close to being as defensively resolute.

When it comes to giving away chances, Nottingham Forest are the fifth worst side for xG conceded, with 6.5 xG conceded across the first four games.

Ange Postecoglou did concede a total of 1.84 xG against Arsenal, but the issue was persisting before he was made head coach, and the Australian was also unable to instil his style at that point.

Much has been made of Postecoglou’s philosophy, and how open that can leave his side’s backline, but with Forest already seemingly struggling to prevent chances, he will need to start making his team more difficult to score against.

However, the problems are not just in their own half, and if not addressed, then the likelihood is that Postecoglou will be under pressure at Forest.

Nottingham Forest are struggling to create chances as well

The Tricky Trees also have problems on the other end of the pitch.

They are ranked as the fifth worst team when it comes to creating goalscoring chances with an xG of just 3.7 over the opening four games.

However, they have scored four goals, showing that when they do create, they have the quality to score.

Ange Postecoglou will need to find a way to get his side to improve on both ends of the pitch should he want to see any success this year.

The likes of Dilane Bakwa and Douglas Luiz could help in getting the ball up the pitch and creating opportunities.

Meanwhile, Igor Jesus showed promise against Swansea City in the forward department.

Ange has a deep squad, and those selection headaches in order to find a solution will no doubt be a welcome problem.
