Nottingham Forest are not relenting away from increasing the quality in their squad, and a recent report suggests that could be done as soon as January.
Brazilian outlet Bolavip have reported that the Tricky Trees are interested in signing Flamengo defender Leo Ortiz in the next transfer window.
The report states that the Rio-based club “should receive an offer” from Nottingham Forest for the player, and that Flamengo “know it will be difficult to keep the defender for long.”
Forest already have a strong contingent of Brazilian players at the club, and Igor Jesus has recently shown he can adapt to English football.
Should a move progress for Ortiz, the 29-year-old’s transition could be made much easier due to the number of compatriots at the City Ground.
Willy Boly’s contract is up in the summer of 2026
Leo Ortiz is 29 years old so Nottingham Forest would be signing an experienced defender.
Willy Boly signed a one-year extension in the summer with his deal now expected to run out at the end of June 2026.
The Ivorian has been a great servant for the club, but as he will be 35 years old at the season’s end, it might be time to part ways.
Additionally, with Ange Postecoglou wanting to play an aggressive highline, Boly does not quite have the skillset to do so.
This means that Leo Ortiz could perhaps come in to fill the void left, and at just 29 years old, he could offer more legs at the back.
It is definitely a move to keep an eye on.
