Ange Postecoglou awaits his first Nottingham Forest victory since replacing Nuno Espirito Santo as the club’s new head coach.

Postecoglou watched as his team were dumped out of the Carabao Cup in pathetic circumstances on Wednesday night, losing 3-2 after the Reds had held a 2-0 half-time lead.

Postecoglou has a problem that he must solve at Forest and with Real Betis and Sunderland to come this week, a victory is badly needed.

Fans have started to notice some problems with Postecoglou and how he wants to play, and given the change in style, this could get better before things get worse.

Oleksandr Zinchenko sends message to Forest fans

The Ukrainian defender made his Premier League debut for Forest after looking largely impressive during Wednesday night’s League Cup game against Swansea.

Zinchenko signed for Forest on transfer deadline day, and he looks like the sort of player who could thrive at the City Ground if he gets the chance to keep playing.

The player could perhaps have stopped Jaiden Anthony’s equalising goal, but the tough conditions meant he was unable to prevent the Clarets from restoring parity.

After the game, Zinchenko took to Instagram to send a firm message to the club’s supporters to stick with the team at this tricky time.

He posted on social media: “Must be better! We keep pushing! Thanks for the amazing support from the away fans.”

Zinchenko brings some much-needed experience to the Forest back-line at the moment, and the fact that he’s left-footed does bring some balance to the back four as well.

Zinchenko came in at left-back, with Neco Williams – the scorer of the Forest goal – reverting to his more natural position of right-back on the day.

Other than his poor clearance attempt for Burnley’s equalising goal, Zinchenko largely did well, and with Ola Aina out injured, the place should be his for a little while.

Forest desperately need a victory this week with very important games on the horizon, and anything less than at least one victory will pile serious pressure on Postecoglou’s position.
