Ange Postecoglou’s football was on full show in the first half against Real Betis, and if the Tricky Trees can maintain at that level, they’ll undoubtedly be a top side this season.
The late equaliser was certainly a disappointment, but after Douglas Luiz was withdrawn through injury at half-time, Ange Postecoglou’s side lost all control.
Luiz has gone for a scan on his hamstring, but the injury is not serious according to the Forest head coach.
It is early days, but the Brazilian already looks to be an important cog in the machine for the Australian, and that performance has given a former Premier League player confidence about Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest.

Mark Bosnich encouraged by Nottingham Forest’s performances so far
Mark Bosnich has won a Premier League title at Manchester United, so he is well aware of how top teams need to operate.
Drawing on his experience, the former goalkeeper has given his verdict on Ange Postecoglou’s start to life at Nottingham Forest.
The Premier League winner and fellow Australian has delivered a glowing assessment despite the rocky results so far.

Speaking with Australian outlet Nine, Bosnich said, “It has been a hectic start to his second life in the Premier League but Thursday’s performance against Real Betis gave me great confidence in his early progress.
“I hope Forest fans are feeling the same way after that 2-2 draw in Seville. Betis are a very good side with a very good manager in Manuel Pellegrini, who has won a Premier League title. And yet Forest made them look second-rate for a lot of the first half in particular.
“Ange had them humming and while he was frustrated by the late equaliser after not putting the game to bed, I found it very encouraging. They will win a lot of games if they keep playing like that.”
Bosnich’s assessment is shared by Micah Richards, who cannot understand the criticism Ange receives across the football world.
Meanwhile, the Spanish press were less than impressed with Forest after failing to put the game to bed.
International break will be key for Douglas Luiz
While Mark Bosnich was highly impressed with Wednesday night, that dominance came when Douglas Luiz was on the pitch.
The Brazilian was excellent at keeping the ball ticking over, misplacing only three passes. Luiz also got an assist against Real Betis.
However, the midfielder has had fitness issues over the last year, and Ange Postecoglou has already said he needs to be careful with him.

The Australian also pinpointed the next international break as a good opportunity to get Luiz closer to peak physical fitness.
The international break starts after Nottingham Forest’s fixture against Newcastle on the 5th of October, and following that, they have a tough home game against Chelsea.
Having Douglas Luiz ready to play at least 60 minutes would be a major boost for the City Ground side.
