Nottingham Forest beat Liverpool on Saturday as the Sean Dyche era truly got kick-started.

The Reds have won twice in the Premier League and drawn, with a single defeat coming in his first domestic game against Bournemouth.

Morgan Gibbs-White was outstanding for Forest on Saturday, and he’s not the only player who is back in form under the new head coach.

One man who has played a lot of football under Dyche is Igor Jesus, and now, his reason for getting the seal of approval from the head coach has come to light.

What Igor Jesus is doing to win over Sean Dyche

The Brazilian striker was expected to be second in command behind Chris Wood, who bagged 20 goals last season, but he’s now propelled himself to the first-choice striker.

Wood is injured along with Taiwo Awoniyi at the moment, whilst Arnaud Kalimuendo is already attracting interest after not getting much game time at all.

Dyche has come in and demanded his players start doing the basics better in training and on the pitch, with Jesus epitomising what he’s looking for.

According to The Athletic, Dyche has introduced ‘beasting’ sessions, as he calls them, designed to ensure the players are physically up to the demands of the Premier League.

Each player is monitored, and apparently, according to the reports, Jesus has been the standout performer when it comes to the data.

If Chris Wood is fit, which striker should start in the Premier League?

Igor Jesus now needs to take the next step

Jesus was very unlucky not to score his maiden Premier League goal against Liverpool, with replays showing Andy Madley was incorrect to rule it out.

However, it’s not been through a lack of trying for Jesus and with Wood and Awoniyi showing no signs of being back soon, he is considered the main striker now.

The challenge for Jesus is to start scoring goals in the Premier League, much like he has in the Europa League, with three goals coming in that competition.

Jesus is still adapting to life in England. At 23-years-old, Forest do look to have got themselves a gem of a player and with a few more goals, he will almost certainly become a hit with the fans.
