Don Goodman shared what he really didn’t like during Nottingham Forest victory over Wolves

Nottingham Forest beat Wolves 1-0 at Molineux as the hapless home side were once again beaten.

For Forest, tonight was simply about winning. Igor Jesus ensured that with a second-half header after seeing one disallowed in the first 45 minutes.

The disallowed goal wasn’t really open for debate, with Dan Ndoye standing directly in the eyesight of goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

The incident and how the match officials got to their decision left Goodman and commentator Daniel Mann feeling somewhat perplexed.

Don Goodman slams VAR in Nottingham Forest win

In fairness, Goodman has a point. The first goal was borderline farcical with absolutely no need for the situation to pan out as it did.

Referee Tim Robinson was sent over the pitchside monitor to deliver the final verdict, when VAR official Rob Jones simply needed to let him know that the decision was offside.

Goodman said on Sky Sports: “This, in my opinion, is an easy one. I just don’t understand why this is taking four minutes to sort.

“It’s a pretty clear and obvious one, Ndoye is in front of the goalkeeper, and he points to him straight away, he stops him from doing anything to save the header.”

In the second half, Goodman’s dismay didn’t waver when another lengthy check occurred over a possible foul in the penalty area on Ryan Yates.

Yates was clearly offside, even if he might have been fouled by a Wolves defender as he was about to head the ball home.

Goodman further added: “It’s getting farcical now, isn’t it? We know they want to get everything right and leave no stone unturned, but it’s just so clear. It takes far too long.”

Forest needed to beat Wolves during Premier League clash

This was far from vintage Forest, but ultimately the job was done, and it’s a huge three points in the right direction for the Reds.

Jesus getting his maiden goal in the Premier League will do him the world of good and it will be interesting to see what this goal does for his confidence.

Goodman makes some great points about VAR. It’s pretty poor when fans inside stadiums can’t really see what is going off and are left waiting for minutes, despite decisions looking easy to sort out.

It’s gone beyond the point of knowing what the best thing to sort VAR out, but as Goodman perhaps implies, right now, it’s not fit for purpose, it would seem.
