Nottingham Forest fans amused as CAS reveal findings on Steve Parish’s Crystal Palace UEFA appeal

Crystal Palace fans might have no choice but to smell the coffee after spending all summer blaming Nottingham Forest for losing their place in the Europa League.

In the suburbs of Croydon, Evangelos Marinakis remains public enemy number one for his supposed part in getting the Eagles removed from the Europa League and demoted to the Conference League.

However, the finger-pointing from Palace fans might now be heading firmly in the direction of their own owner, Steve Parish, after the CAS released the full 66-page document detailing Palace’s appeal process.

Forest are five games into their European adventure and have eight points from their five games so far in the group stages.

Nottingham Forest fans react as Steve Parish faux pas comes to light

It’s been revealed that Parish’s employment contract at Crystal Palace was used as evidence in the club’s appeal against UEFA’s decision.

That means that Parish manages the day-to-day operations and is contractually prohibited from approving certain decisions without board approval, of which John Textor was one of the four voting members.

Forest fans have been enjoying a good giggle at the expense of Parish and Palace fans, who spent all summer trying to convince themselves that they’d followed all the correct protocols to secure a place in the Europa League.

Another fan said: “So Steve Parish’s own employment contract proved he needed permission of other board members (one of which John Textor) to make any decision worth more than £100k.”

Another simply wrote: “Well! Is it still Evangelos Marinakis’ fault now?”

Another fan wrote suspiciously: “It’s all coming out now, isn’t it!”

Finally, one fan wrote: “Those conditions are actually worse than I thought. I understand fighting it, but it’s clear as day on that judgment that Textor had a say in Palace’s decisions. All CAS did was delay both teams’ preparation for the season properly.”

Parish owes Marinakis an apology

All this back in the summer could have been avoided had Palace simply submitted the relevant paperwork to the powers that be ahead of them winning the FA Cup.

Will Nottingham Forest beat Wolves at Molineux?

Parish was determined to make the media believe that Forest owner Marinakis was at fault for the Reds being awarded the place when it simply was never the case.

Marinakis is a multi-club owner himself and merely wrote to UEFA to ask for guidance on the situation regarding the terms and conditions and what needs to be submitted.

Now, finally, the details have been released and as most Forest fans anticipated, Palace have absolutely nobody to blame but themselves for their removal from the Europa League.
