Nottingham Forest are facing a losing battle to keep hold of Elliot Anderson beyond the summer.
Liverpool and Manchester City are just two clubs eyeing Anderson, with the England star set to shine at the World Cup during the summer of 2026.
Anderson has been a revelation since his £35 million capture from Newcastle, with Odysseas Vlachodimos – a third-choice goalkeeper – offsetting the transfer fee somewhat.
The 22-year-old’s form, however, has been so good that in a matter of 18 months, he’s now one of the country’s top midfielders, and it looks impossible that he will stay at Forest.
Given the club’s position in the food chain, that doesn’t come as a surprise, and it looks as though Forest might already have found their replacement for Anderson.

Nottingham Forest eye Tyler Morton signing
According to Team Talk, Forest have been watching Morton for a number of months and believe he might be the player to replace Anderson at the City Ground.
Morton moved from Liverpool to Lyon in the summer, and the Reds are monitoring their former player, not because they have a buy-back clause but because they will be owed 20% of any future transfer.
Lyon believe they might be able to double their money for a player who only signed for them for £15 million in the summer, and Forest will compete with other clubs for his services.
The 23-year-old has made 17 appearances in France this season, scoring once and claiming one assist, with the player tipped for a very bright future.
Anderson will be impossible to replace at Forest
Any player who does well at Forest will always have bigger clubs sniffing around, but ultimately, Anderson is a generational talent who looks destined for the top.
Forest should be demanding around £100 million for Anderson’s services, and if the club can get that, it would represent a significant profit on what they paid for him.
Would Tyler Morton be a suitable Elliot Anderson replacement?
Morton is a little bit older than Anderson, and perhaps he wouldn’t be as raw as the Forest man when he first came to the football club from Newcastle.
However, whether it’s Morton or someone else, replacing Anderson looks like a really thankless task for Forest, and the hope will be that the money recouped can be put back into the squad.
