Elliot Anderson is one of the breakout stars for England during the 2025/26 campaign, with the Nottingham Forest midfielder in high demand.
Evangelos Marinakis will know he has a player on his hands at the City Ground. Anderson cost the club £35 million from Newcastle, and his form last season helped the Reds finish seventh in the Premier League.
Forest now stand to make a significant profit on Anderson, and sadly for the Reds, the time will eventually come to sell, with some of the top clubs in world football courting the central midfielder.

How Liverpool feel about signing Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City are the first club to express concrete interest in Anderson, with the club willing to part with the £100 million that Forest values him at.
Manchester United are also keen, but the Red Devils might be fighting a losing battle, given that their status in world football isn’t quite as significant in 2025.
City hold the aces right now, it would seem, but it would appear as though Liverpool are positioning themselves quietly in the background, ready to pounce for the Geordie Maradona.
The Reds splashed the cash in the summer and given their recent struggles – which included a 3-0 home defeat to Forest – Arne Slot is keen to land a player who looks set to become an England regular for years to come.
THIS is exactly how good Elliot Anderson is
Anderson unlikely to get emotional Newcastle return
As a devoted Geordie and Newcastle fan, Anderson to Newcastle for a significant fee felt like something that could potentially happen in the future.
However, the report suggests that the £80-£100 million price bracket that Forest want to recoup is well out of their current scope when it comes to a budget for new central midfielders.
Forest will ignore any advances for Anderson in January. It’s hoped that he will continue playing well, enjoy a brilliant World Cup and then leave the City Ground for a significant fee in the summer.
Forest hit the jackpot with Anderson
It’s fair to say that some lazy criticisms have been made about Forest’s transfer history of late. However, the club have to be lauded for this incredible piece of business.
Anderson might have cost £35 million, but the price was offset somewhat with Odysseas Vlachodimos signing for the Magpies in a deal worth £20 million.
With Forest now set to rake in a record transfer fee for Anderson in the summer, it looks as though this signing will go down as one of the best pieces of business in the club’s history.
The challenge for Forest is to replace Anderson when he does leave. He’s bound to leave a big hole and hopefully, the Reds can land a player with a similar profile to that of the England performer.
