Nottingham Forest owned player gets hero’s send off and he could soon help Sean Dyche

Nottingham Forest were active in the summer transfer window, but it would appear that there is still work to do.

With 15 matches of the 2025/26 campaign played, Forest are 17th in the Premier League and look to be embroiled in a relegation battle.

As a result, the January transfer window probably can’t come soon enough, and Sean Dyche will perhaps be looking to bring a few players to the football club.

One Forest-owned star might just be capable of making an impact, however, with the curtain coming down on his loan spell on Sunday night.

Cuiabano heading to Nottingham Forest after last Botafogo game

It was perhaps a little bit surprising when Cuiabano didn’t link straight up with Forest when the club decided to sign him from Botafogo in the summer.

Forest instead added Oleksandr Zinchenko, but after a handful of pretty drab performances, he’s been injured and is showing no signs of returning any time soon.

Forest are desperately short of options at left-back and with Neco Williams not really able to rest much at the moment, surely Cuiabano will get a chance once he arrives at Forest.

Last night, he was given a hero’s send-off as Botafogo finished their season with a 4-2 win over Fortaleza, with Cuiabano playing the match.

Cuiabano has made 48 appearances in all competitions during the 2025 campaign, scoring six goals, claiming five assists and being yellow carded on 11 occasions.

The left-back has played his final game for Botafogo as the Brazilian top-flight drew to a close.

Cuiabano deserves chance and Zinchenko decision needs making

With the Ukraine facing big World Cup qualifiers in March, Zinchenko will crave regular football, but his chances of doing that with Forest look slim.

Williams is firmly established as the first-choice left-back, but having Cuiabano in the ranks as a natural left-sided option could be most useful.

Do you want to see Cuiabano get a chance in the Forest first team?

The Brazilian is only 22, and as a result, he could come in as a bit of a project to the City Ground ranks, and with the games coming thick and fast, he should get plenty of chances.

Cuiabano was clearly rated highly by his teammates and Botafogo fans and now the hope will be that he can make the same impact in England with Forest.

The defender won’t be able to be registered until the New Year but he could prove a very useful addition indeed when he does check in at Forest.
