Nottingham Forest could be set to up the ante once again in January as the club looks to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Forest spent a fortune in the summer transfer window to enhance the squad ahead of a campaign playing in Europe, but things have not gone to plan so far.
Sean Dyche has overseen a mini revival of sorts, but ultimately, just three Premier League wins have been claimed by Forest from the 15 games so far in 2025/26.
As a result, the transfer market is going to come into Forest’s thoughts next month, with the club’s Premier League status likely to depend on the business that can be done.

Nottingham Forest send offer to Bologna for Santiago Castro
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Forest are keen to land the player who has been eyed by Inter Milan previously, with Bologna wanting around £34-£44 million for his services.
Bologna drew with Lazio at the weekend, and it’s claimed that a scout from Forest was in the stands to watch the player ahead of the January transfer window.
What Vincenzo Italiano said about Santiago Castro in February
The striker has been linked with Nottingham Forest
Castro has scored five times and registered one assist in 2025/26, with the 21-year-old usually playing a centre-forward for the Serie A outfit.
Forest have Igor Jesus as their first-choice striker at the moment, with Chris Wood injured and Arnaud Kalimuendo seemingly massively out of favour.
Castro would bolster the attacking ranks
The young Argentine would have no settling-in period at Forest to a certain degree, with Dan Ndoye playing alongside the player last year with Bologna.
Given that he’s a hard-working player, he could prove to be a very useful signing for the Reds, given that a new striker appears like a must in the January transfer window.
Would Santiago Castro be a good signing for Nottingham Forest?
Castro bagged 10 goals and registered eight assists last season as Bologna enjoyed a very positive season, beating AC Milan to win the Coppa Italia.
Although Ndoye hasn’t had a huge impact at Forest just yet this season, there is enough to suggest that Castro could offer something to the Forest attack that isn’t already evident for Dyche.
Completing big money deals in January isn’t an easy thing to do, however, and it will be interesting to see if Forest can prise the talisman away from Bologna.
