Ross Wilson says Nottingham Forest have a player who’s ‘one of the best in the Premier League’

It came as a shock earlier in the season when Ross Wilson swapped Nottingham Forest for Newcastle.

The club’s Sporting Director headed to Newcastle after a number of years at Forest, where he had helped the club stabilise following promotion to the Premier League.

Newcastle are trying to become regulars in the Champions League, and as a result, they poached Wilson, who has a pretty excellent record when it comes to recruitment.

Forest’s recruitment in the summer felt okay on paper, but a lot of the new additions are taking some time to settle, with the Reds sitting 17th in the Premier League.

Despite leaving earlier this year, Wilson has now lauded one Forest star, admitting that he’s among the best players in the Premier League in his position.

What Ross Wilson has said about Elliot Anderson

Anderson was signed on Wilson’s watch for £35 million, with a PSR deal taking place that saw Forest send Odysseas Vlachodimos in the opposite direction for £20 million.

Since signing for Forest, Anderson has developed superbly well, becoming a really useful player for both his club and on the international stage for England.

Wilson could always see the talent, and now he’s claimed that Anderson is among the best players in the Premier League in his position.

He told The Athletic: “Everyone knows what he can do now

“If you were to say a year ago that Elliot would be one of the best in the Premier League, a starter for England and can go wherever he likes in his career, some would have said yes. The others? They wouldn’t have understood his level.

“Everyone at Newcastle and Forest knows the quality of the boy. He is an outstanding boy and a top human being.”

⭐The AMAZING claim Robbie Mustoe made about Elliot Anderson…

Is he right, let us know in the comments below…👇

““He played in the same position as me, and I honestly see him as another Declan Rice, sheer quality, it’s a big shout, but he’s reliable, determined, great attitude, great mentality, brilliant injury record, and he’s a real star. He’s one of the best. On one hand, he’s up there with the best in the Premier League at the moment.”

Forest will hope to recoup huge fee for Anderson

There might be a bit of Wilson trying to do some flirtatious work for Newcastle here but it does look as though they will be priced out of a move for Anderson.

The hope for clubs like Newcastle will be that Forest are relegated, when the club might then be forced to lower their demands somewhat in the summer transfer window.

However, if the Reds do remain in the Premier League for next season, a bid of £100 million is likely to be the minimum that Evangelos Marinakis will accept for his services.

Forest need to prepare for the eventuality of Anderson leaving, and the hope will be that the current recruitment people are busy compiling a list of targets to step up and replace the number eight.
