Nottingham Forest secured a stunning victory over Tottenham at the weekend as Sean Dyche continued his good start to life at the City Ground.

Forest have been brilliant in the Premier League under Dyche, with wins coming over Leeds, Liverpool, Wolves, and Tottenham and a draw coming against Manchester United.

The game against Tottenham was simply superb. Callum Hudson-Odoi was named the Premier League Player of the Week for his two-goal haul, and a number of players were in standout form.

Theo Walcott hailed another Forest star and ultimately, this was the best that the Reds have played since Dyche came to the club to replace Ange Postecoglou.

Alan Shearer raves about Ibrahim Sangare

Had Hudson-Odoi not won the Premier League accolade for Player of the Week, it feels as though Sangare would have been the next in line.

His performance was nothing short of sensational, and ultimately, this has been a long time coming for the Ivorian performer who is now heading off to the African Cup of Nations.

Shearer has claimed that he had no choice but to name Sangare in his Premier League Team of the Week this week, saying: “Had to be in my team. He ran the show in midfield, providing two assists before scoring with a stunning strike.”

Sangare is now going to be sorely missed for as many as six weeks, with the African Cup of Nations lasting until January 18th in Morocco.

Douglas Luiz will now get golden chance to sparkle

With Sangare’s performance against Tottenham offering his critics a reminder of his quality, Luiz now gets the chance to deputise in midfield for the Ivorian.

The challenge for the player is to stay fit after struggling to do that since he arrived at Forest in the summer, and the hope will be that he can now stamp his authority on the team.

Sangare will undoubtedly be missed. Nuno Espirito Santo made him a regular during the last quarter of 2024/25, and now Dyche has really taken a shine to Sangare too.

Shearer is right about Sangare but now the baton will be passed over to Luiz as the Reds look to continue pulling clear of the relegation zone in the coming weeks.
