What Callum Hudson-Odoi said after Nottingham Forest win that is clearly a dig at Ange Postecoglou

Callum Hudson-Odoi was very much the man of the moment as Nottingham Forest beat Tottenham 3-0 at the City Ground on Sunday.

He timed his return to form to perfection as he downed the club where supporters so often booed him after his time spent playing for their London rivals, Chelsea.

Hudson-Odoi was named the Premier League Player of the Week after his two-goal haul; his first was a tap-in after some good work from Ibrahim Sangare, and his second was a scrumptious curling effort from distance.

It had been a tough season for Hudson-Odoi up to the Tottenham game, with just one goal coming in the way of goal contributions, and now he will be hoping to kick on, with Sean Dyche seemingly helping rediscover his top form.

Callum Hudson-Odoi aims subtle dig at Ange Postecoglou

Had Forest appointed a capable manager to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, the Reds would probably be sitting comfortably in mid-table at the moment.

Instead, his disastrous spell has Forest just five points above the relegation zone, and ultimately, there is still work to do in the second half of the campaign to save the club’s skin.

It would appear that the players didn’t exactly take to Postecoglou’s ways of doing things, and after Sunday’s game, Hudson-Odoi has made some comments to suggest that it was an accurate assessment.

He told The Athletic: “The new manager has come in now, and he has full belief in everybody. You can tell that the trust and connections are there between us.

“The connections that were a bit lost for a bit of a while, but now I think everything’s connecting back nicely. There’s another level for me to go up, and hopefully I’ll do that this season.

“From the moment he (Dyche) came in, you could tell the energy levels have risen. We’re bonding very well, whether it’s off the pitch or on the pitch, trying to find the right connection between players and the staff.”

Hudson-Odoi needs to start every single game

Hudson-Odoi was fantastic last midweek when he returned to the starting line-up against FC Utrecht, and he was once again in fine form against Spurs.

The 25-year-old has the chemistry with the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson from last season, and hopefully, Dyche has now seen that Hudson-Odoi deserves to start in the team.

Hudson-Odoi is a superb carrier of the ball, and he can quickly transform defence into attack, with the former Chelsea player capable of scoring goals when called upon too.

Hopefully, now that Dyche has got his feet under the table at Forest he’s starting to see which players he can count on, with Hudson-Odoi grasping his opportunity to impress with aplomb.
