Nottingham Forest are keen to sign Napoli striker Lorenzo Lucca and a deal could now be close to completion.
The Reds are desperate to bolster Sean Dyche’s squad with a new striker after Arnaud Kalimuendo was inexplicably allowed to join Eintracht Frankfurt on loan.
Igor Jesus could miss tonight’s game against Braga, and that will leave the Reds without a fit striker for the game in Portugal, which is important in the quest to qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League.
Taiwo Awoniyi is still at the club but is unregistered for Europe, whilst his last Premier League goal was over a year ago and he looks completely finished at Forest.
Nottingham Forest send plane to Italy for Lorenzo Lucca
There has been some positive news come to light this morning in Forest’s quest to sign Lucca on an initial loan deal from Napoli.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Forest are confident that today will be the day that the club gets the green light to complete the deal, sending a plane to Italy ready to bring him to England.

Lucca has found game time hard to come by this season, scoring just twice in 23 appearances in all competitions, with most of his game time coming from the bench.
Last season, however, should give Forest fans hope over Lucca, with the player scoring 14 goals for Udinese during a loan spell away from Napoli.
It had been claimed that Lucca wanted time to think about joining Forest but it now looks as though things are getting closer with the Premier League in the player’s sights.
Lucca will have to hit the ground running
With Forest dangerously close to the relegation zone in the Premier League, it’s imperative that any new signings come in and hit the ground running, with Lucca no exception.
The Italian will have it all to do to convince the supporters of his Premier League credentials, but as a confident player, he should relish the opportunity.

Forest need a focal point to their attack, with Jesus simply not looking like a striker who befits the strategy of a Dyche team that bombards the box with crosses.
Lucca, however, should thrive on that and hopefully, there can be some movement before Forest play Brentford at the weekend.
