God loves a trier, and in Igor Jesus, Nottingham Forest have a player who is one of the best.
Swapping Brazil for England is never easy, and it’s fair to say that Jesus has been thrown in at the deep end this season.
After signing from Botafogo in the summer, it was anticipated that Jesus would be one understudy for the influential Chris Wood, who bagged 20 goals last season.
However, Wood has been injured since October, and that has meant a run of games for Jesus in a Forest team that has struggled for consistency this season.
Goals haven’t been hard to come by for Jesus, however, and after his second Premier League strike of the season on Sunday, he’s done something that only Erling Haaland can better.

Igor Jesus is now behind only Erling Haaland
Haaland is clearly one of the best strikers in the world, and Jesus isn’t quite at that level just yet!
However, much like the Manchester City frontman, it would appear that the Brazilian has a knack for scoring goals away from home.
On Sunday, Jesus scored after 12 minutes to fire Forest into an early lead against Brentford, and in scoring his second Premier League goal of the season, he moved just behind Haaland.
Jesus has now bagged eight goals away from home in all competitions, and only Haaland, with 12 away from the Etihad Stadium, can beat that amount.
Forest are five points clear of the relegation zone in the Premier League, and with big games coming up, Jesus will now hope to stay on the goalscoring track in the top-flight.
🔢How would you score Igor Jesus out of 10 this season?
Only Erling Haaland has scored more away goals than the Forest man this season in all competitions
Jesus can be a big player for Forest this season
Despite not scoring regular goals for Forest in the Premier League, it’s fair to say that Jesus has still bagged some important ones for the Reds.
With Lorenzo Lucca signing on loan and Taiwo Awoniyi joining on loan, there is a sense that the competition for places is now heating up in Sean Dyche’s team.
However, Jesus has been the number one striker all season, and after his goal against Brentford, he will want to remain the club’s striker going forward.
Jesus is a real hard worker in the Forest team and if he can add a few more Premier League goals to his total, he could become a solid player at this level in the years to come.
