Nottingham Forest have done some good things when it comes to recruitment since returning to the Premier League.

Although it’s not yet perfect at the City Ground when it comes to signing players, a number of signings have hit the mark at Forest since promotion in 2022.

Sean Dyche is currently trying to ensure that Forest remain in the Premier League for another season, with a few more players being targeted ahead of the transfer deadline.

Forest do have some players who other clubs cast an envious eye towards and now, Newcastle star Dan Burn has shared which Reds player he’d love to see at St James’ Park.

Dan Burn shares which Forest player he’d love at Newcastle

It won’t come as a surprise that Burn thinks Anderson would now be perfect back at Forest.

The midfielder was part of a PSR deal that saw Forest sign Anderson for £35 million and then sell Odysseas Vlachodimos to the Magpies for £20 million in exchange.

Anderson has not only become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, but he looks nailed on to start for England at the World Cup this summer too.

Burn has been speaking on the Adopted Geordies podcast about the Forest man, and he admits that seeing him back at Newcastle feels unlikely.

He said: “I think we were gutted when we lost Elliot to Forest, you know what I mean.

“Yeah. And like I’d love him to come back, you know what I mean?

“But I think now we’d probably pay like 100 million for him. So wouldn’t be a great business.”

Anderson will rake in £100 million when he leaves Forest

It’s hard to imagine Forest commanding anything less than £100 million for the player during the transfer window, given what he’s brought to the Reds.

He was instrumental in 2024/25 as Forest finished seventh and managed to get into the Europa League for the first time in 30 years.

It’s perhaps surprising that one of the huge Premier League clubs didn’t come calling for him then, but Forest stood firm and managed to keep hold of Anderson.

Burn is right that signing him right now for £100 million is unlikely to be good business sense for Newcastle but it’s no surprise they want him back.

Eddie Howe has struggled to replicate last season’s form in the North East this time around and their summer signings – including Anthony Elanga – haven’t really worked.

Anderson will now be hoping to keep Forest in the Premier League before looking towards signing for a huge club in the summer window.
