A long and colourful career saw him swap Sunderland for Newcastle in controversial fashion and then move to Forest, where he would become integral in the promotion-winning season of 2021/22.

Colback scored in the first leg of the play-off semi-final against Sheffield United in that season and was Steve Cooper’s trusted left-back across the campaign.

Jack Colback wants Evangelos Marinakis to calm down

The passion Marinakis has will never be in doubt, but perhaps there are some occasions when that boils over a little bit.

Last season, he marched onto the pitch after a 2-2 draw with Leicester, and although it was claimed he was worried about a player injury, it didn’t necessarily feel like that.

Colback has the utmost respect for Marinakis and what he’s achieved at Forest, but he’s afforded his former employer some advice on the Under The Cosh podcast.

He said: “I mean, it speaks for itself, doesn’t it? What I would say is what he’s done for the club is unbelievable, really. And he’s got his own methods, he’s got his own way.

“And I think what he can do in Greece with Olympiakos, he probably thinks he can bring that here a little bit, which he probably has to tone it down slightly in terms of running on the pitch and all that.

“We’ve seen it now and then, haven’t we? But I think what he’s done in terms of the investment, he’s taken the club from the championship to the Premier League and to Europe.

“He’s done unbelievably. But yeah, he’s crackers, isn’t he?”

Colback goes down as cult hero at Nottingham Forest

Colback spent four glorious years at the City Ground, and ultimately, he will live long in the memory for his efforts in getting Forest to the Premier League and helping them to stay there.

The versatile performer made 134 appearances for Forest, and despite being moved from midfield to left-back, he always gave his all for the club.

Colback was a firm fan favourite in the Forest team, and supporters took to his all-action style of play and professionalism during his time at the club.

The ex-Newcastle man was a credit to the club, and given that he’s spoken fondly of Marinakis and offered some advice, it appears he still roots for Forest to do well these days.
