Evangelos Marinakis fought tooth and nail to keep hold of Morgan Gibbs-White in the summer, and it’s proven an absolute masterstroke.
The Reds’ captain scored a scintillating 15-minute hat-trick to give Forest a five-point cushion on Tottenham in the battle to avoid relegation.
Gibbs-White is now up to 20 goal contributions in all competitions this season and he’s truly stepped up for Forest at a time when he’s been badly needed.
Sum up that Nottingham Forest in three words…
Marinakis hit the jackpot when he averted Tottenham in their quest to pinch Gibbs-White and that decision has turned into a nightmare for Spurs.

Morgan Gibbs-White could send Tottenham down
Tottenham might have been pinning all of their hopes on Forest struggling to score goals but then Gibbs-White has had other ideas.
The Reds’ talisman scored a scrumptious hat-trick at the City Ground to see Forest five points clear of Tottenham with just five games remaining.
Tottenham face Wolves next in the Premier League, and although they should win, they could find themselves two games way from both Forest and West Ham by the time they next play.
Gibbs-White has been instrumental for Forest and in truth, had he pushed to leave the City Ground in the summer, Marinakis might have been powerless to prevent it.
Nobody messes with the big man, however, and Tottenham must now be cursing themselves that they couldn’t prise a player of Gibbs-White’s quality away from Forest in the summer.
Gibbs-White has the box office traits that Tottenham have lacked this season and although Xavi Simonns scored a brilliant goal on Saturday, he’s been nowhere near as consistent as the Forest man this season.
Tottenham’s loss is Forest’s gain and it looks as though they will absolutely rue the decision not to push harder to land Gibbs-White when they look back on this season.

Gibbs-White can keep Forest in the Premier League
With no striker stepping up to score goals in the Premier League this season, Forest have been reliant on Gibbs-White to score regularly.
He’s done that superbly well and Tottenham have been thrust into a nightmare scenario that could see them ridiculed should they get relegated.
A club the size of Tottenham shouldn’t be left embarrassed when it comes to a transfer by Forest but that is exactly what Marinakis did in the summer window.
Forest now have a golden chance to remain in the Premier League this season, and hopefully, the Reds can continue pushing clear and leave Tottenham looking even more foolish over Gibbs-White.
