Nottingham Forest are continuing their revival under Vitor Pereira and claimed a huge 5-0 win over Sunderland on Friday night.

Forest had to watch on yesterday as West Ham and Tottenham both won their respective fixtures, and the only thing that has changed this weekend is that there is just one game less left to play.

Despite winning, Forest can’t be ruled out of the relegation battle just yet but after the huge win over Sunderland, Jamie Redknapp believes the Reds should have enough to remain in the division.

Jamie Redknapp thinks Nottingham Forest will stay up

Redknapp was part of the Sky Sports coverage on Friday night, and he was impressed with Forest and how they went about their business.

Forest have moved onto 39 points with just four games remaining and boast a five-point gap to Tottenham, who remain in the relegation zone.

Redknapp does believe that Forest are getting somewhat closer to the finish line, given how well they’re playing at the moment.

He said: “39, do I think that will keep you up? Yes, but you have to work on the basis that anything is still possible. You know, West Ham have got a, you’re asking Tottenham to win four games, you know, and is that going to be possible?

“We don’t know. Chris Woods said something, you’ve got to win back-to-back games, that’s the key. Everything can change, get six points, and then all of a sudden the whole complexion of it looks different.

“But Tottenham are supposed to have to go to Wolves and win. West Ham tomorrow and now will be looking at it thinking, we have to win that home game.”

“But you think with the way that Nottingham Forest are playing after that result today, you could tell them they’re not going to find a point or two with the confidence they’ve got. That was a brilliant result for them tonight.”

Forest have work to do in order to ensure Premier League survival, but given how well the team are playing, there will now be genuine belief that Forest can scrape over the line.

The Reds have turned a corner when it comes to performance levels, with Pereira claiming some huge results in recent weeks to throw extra pressure on their rivals.

The job isn’t complete, but if Forest are still in the mix, then Leeds, who have one point more than the Reds and Newcastle, who have three more, surely have to be considered among the contenders too.
