Gibbs-White had earlier set up Taiwo Awoniyi for his second goal of the afternoon in front of England manager Thomas Tuchel, who was watching from the stands.

After the game, fans were concerned about Gibbs-White ahead of Thursday’s Europa League semi-final against Aston Villa and Vitor Pereira was asked about his condition.

Vitor Pereira delivers Morgan Gibbs-White update

Gibbs-White was spotted sporting a pretty gruesome cut that had clearly been stitched by the club’s medical staff in the dressing room.

The attacker will naturally be a bit of a doubt for Thursday’s second leg but it will take a brave man to stop him playing some part in the huge fixture.

Pereira has suggested the club need to hope and pray to have Gibbs-White available to line up against Aston Villa later this week.

Pereira said in his press conference: “He has a deep cut, we will see, he is a fighter and we hope for a miracle. I said to him don’t head the ball, just play.”

Who was your Man of the Match vs Chelsea?

There are a fair few to choose from!

Gibbs-White will want to play every minute of every game between now and the end of the season as he looks to get into Tuchel’s England team for the World Cup.

Now, the race is on for him to get fit and ready for Thursday’s game and perhaps the club are already working on getting the player a face mask fitted for the occasion.
