Williams has been consistent for Forest across the campaign, and he’s continued the fine form which he showcased last season when the Reds qualified for Europe.
Following Vitor Pereira’s decision to name him as the captain for the game against Newcastle, Williams took to Instagram to send a message to the fan base.

Neco Williams sends message to Forest fans
Williams was clearly very proud to lead Forest out against Newcastle, and he took to Instagram to sum up his feelings in seven words.
The full-back posted: “Proud moment today leading the lads out.”
Williams is a popular member of the dressing room at the City Ground, and ultimately, there is so much more to come from the player who cost £17 million from Liverpool almost four years ago.
Elliot Anderson and James McAtee react to Williams captaincy
It’s fair to say that the decision made by Pereira for Williams to lead the team out was a popular one, with a number of players reacting to his Instagram post.
Anderson, who scored Forest’s equalising goal in a 1-1 draw, said: “Love it skip” and also posted an emotional emoji beside his comment.
McAtee came up with a new nickname for Williams, calling him ‘Skips’ on his post, with the former Manchester City man teeing up Anderson for the Forest goal.
With Gibbs-White likely to be linked with a move away from the club this summer, it would be no surprise to see Williams take the armband again in the future and it’s a role that he will surely embrace.
