The debate rumbles on over the decision to award Manchester United a goal despite a clear handball against Nottingham Forest.
The Reds were extremely hard done by, despite Manchester United fans seemingly hellbent on citing a law that basically shows that officials are getting themselves in knots
😤How on earth has Manchester United’s second goal stood against Nottingham Forest?!
A complete and utter disgrace!
Michael Salisbury’s decision to overturn VAR and stick with his incorrect on-field decision is something that could only really happen at Old Trafford, and Mark Schwarzer has lambasted the call.

Mark Schwarzer thinks Vitor Pereira will be fuming
Vitor Pereira was actually quite relaxed after the game at Old Trafford and clearly that was down to the fact that there was little riding on the game for either team.
Had this goal cost Forest in the fight against relegation, he might have been angrier at the abysmal call, but Schwarzer thinks he’s still got every right to feel aggrieved.
He said on Match of the Day: “Not really. I understand it takes a deflection, and it’s a short distance, and it hits him, but even if it takes a deflection, he basically traps it and controls it with his arm, unintentionally, of course, and it leads to the shot, the deflection, and it just pops down to Matheus Cunha.
“It’s a really good finish, but it’s a completely unfair advantage. I think if it flicks off the defender and then hits him on the hip, on the arm, wherever, and then goes to Cunha and he scores, I’d understand it more.
“This way it just confuses people, and it frustrates people, and it angers people. Pereira, I can believe why he’s completely angered by the decision.”
Pereira has shown his true colours with this incident and it’s a positive sign from a Forest perspective, with the head coach choosing to say he respects it because the referee made the call.
Inside, he will be raging with anger, given that he was clearly in a heated discussion with the fourth official shortly after the goal had been awarded.
The handball law needs ironing out, and much like there was a law change after the home game against United, with officials set to be able to check whether a corner was correctly awarded if it leads to a goal, we could once again see another meeting to iron out this ridiculous law.
