Remember the date, Sunday 17th May 2026, the day that Gary Neville sided with Nottingham Forest. Finally!
Neville is currently banned from the City Ground by Evangelos Marinakis following a ‘mafia’ comment he made about the Forest hierarchy.
😤How on earth has Manchester United’s second goal stood against Nottingham Forest?!
A complete and utter disgrace!
However, during the 3-2 win for Manchester United over Nottingham Forest, Neville could not believe what he was watching as the Reds fell 2-1 behind shortly after Morato had equalised.

I mean, this was crystal clear and fair play to Neville for taking off his United-tinted glasses and calling this out for what it was. An absolute disgrace.
Bryan Mbeumo clearly handled the ball into his path, allowing him to get a shot away and inadvertently play the ball to Matheus Cunha, who swept home.
Neville thought the decision was a disgrace and said that he felt Forest had every right to feel absolutely furious with the decision.
He said on co-commentary: “It’s as clear as day, I’m stunned, I don’t know why it hasn’t been disallowed. Nottingham Forest have every right to be fuming. Without it hitting his hand, he doesn’t control that ball. You know, we applaud referees for sticking with their decisions, but that isn’t the decision to do that with; he’s got it wrong.”
Forest are lucky that this decision doesn’t really cost them anything in terms of the season, although the unbeaten run is now over.
Michael Salisbury has an awful lot to answer for in the aftermath of this decision and it will be interesting to see if Howard Webb puts this one up for the mic’d up programme on Sky.
😡Nottingham Forest have been robbed by VAR at Old Trafford. AGAIN!
Why are we not getting any luck with VAR again!
Forest didn’t play as well as they have done in recent weeks at Old Trafford, and nobody is saying that United might not still have come away with all three points from this game had that decision been disallowed.
Still, for an official to get the chance to see that decision again and still get it wrong is pretty remarkable, even by refereeing standards in the Premier League.
