The time of year has come around when people of a Nottingham Forest persuasion start picking their Player of the Year.

The 2025/26 campaign has proved chaotic from a Forest perspective.

Vitor Pereira has performed miracles to keep Forest in the Premier League and reach the semi-final of the Europa League.

FINAL: Morgan Gibbs-White vs Neco Williams?

Before him, Forest had Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche as head coaches, and four managers in one season is unprecedented in the Premier League.

Now, a former player has had his say on the Player of the Year award and thinks the outcome should be nailed on.

Julian Bennett picks Neco Williams as Player of the Year

The former Forest left-back who helped the club win promotion to the Championship is a regular at the City Ground these days.

He’s often schmoozing the hospitality guests on Trentside, and he believes Neco Williams has outshone Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson this season.

Bennett said on social media: “Neco Williams has my vote, he just edges MGW for me who must go to the World Cup.

“Elliot Anderson has been incredible too.”

Williams would be a worthy winner of the Player of the Year award.

The Welsh defender has won a number of Player of the Month accolades this season, and fans clearly value his input from left-back.

Williams has been remarkable this season, and it’s quite clear that he’s going to be a very popular pick when it comes to the voting.

Gibbs-White’s form has contributed largely to Forest staying up since the turn of the year, but when it comes to consistency, Williams has arguably been better.

The winner will be announced after the Bournemouth game on Sunday, and it does feel like a toss-up between Williams and Gibbs-White.
