Nottingham Forest were robbed of a point against Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford.

Vitor Pereira’s men battled hard but saw their away campaign for 2025/26 end in a 3-2 defeat.

Forest equalised through Morato after half-time, but just moments later, Michael Salisbury intervened, inexplicably allowing Matheus Cunha’s goal to stand despite Bryan Mbeumo handling in the build-up.

😡Nottingham Forest have been robbed by VAR at Old Trafford. AGAIN!

Why are we not getting any luck with VAR again!

After the contest in the North West, Forest fans sent a pretty emphatic message to the PGMOL regarding the performance of their match official.

Nottingham Forest fans urge PGMOL to sack Michael Salisbury

Replying in the TalkingPoints section of our website, lots of Forest fans have called for Salisbury to receive his marching orders on the back of this incident.

😤How on earth has Manchester United’s second goal stood against Nottingham Forest?!

A complete and utter disgrace!

One fan suggested he wouldn’t be watching Premier League football next season, such was the nature and incorrectness of this call.

Another was staggered that it wasn’t picked up by the ref as a control of the ball from Mbeumo.

Another fan believes it’s just what fans have grown to expect now when it comes to match officials.

Forest fan, Andrew, is another incensed that he will continue getting games on the Premier League in the future and has called for change.

Phillip echoed Andrew’s thoughts and thinks he should be earning his stripes in the EFL.

Another fan was equally incensed with the call.

Finally, another fan called for change but praised VAR for getting his part right in recommending the review in the first place.

Something has to start giving with these match officials when it comes to the Premier League.

Right now, the Premier League must be aware that we have the best, most competitive division in the world, but some of the worst match officials.

Forest are stacking up the apology letters, with another one coming from Howard Webb in the aftermath of the Manchester United game.

Salisbury is a serial offender when it comes to not interpreting handball properly, too.

Just three weeks ago, Salisbury sat on VAR and comically suggested Mateus Fernandes had accidentally handled the ball when Thierno Barry of Everton tried to shield it with his chest.

Frankly, this latest handball debacle involving Salisbury and Forest should lead to an immediate demotion and perhaps starting the 2026/27 campaign in the EFL will sharpen his focus once again.
