For a number of Nottingham Forest players, there has been World Cup heartbreak.

Matz Sels was in every Belgium squad that he was available for in qualification for the tournament, but has missed out to Mike Penders for the tournament.

Elsewhere, Nicolas Dominguez hasn’t made the cut for Argentina, and he must wait to add more caps for his country to his current total.

What is your prediction for Saturday’s final game of the season vs Bournemouth?🤔

We've not beaten Bournemouth since 2015!😮

Now, the Brazil squad has dropped, and it’s heartache for the three Forest players who were in the mix: Murillo, Igor Jesus and John Victor.

Still, that hasn’t stopped Murillo from sending a very classy message to former Forest ace, Danilo, who has made the cut.

What Murillo said to Danilo after the Brazil World Cup squad was announced

There is a really heartwarming video doing the rounds on social media at the moment with Danilo surrounded by his family as Carlo Ancelotti announces his squad.

Danilo has been in fine form for Botafogo since leaving Forest, scoring 10 goals and claiming three assists so far this season.

Manchester United and Fulham are eyeing a move for Danilo this summer, but now he must focus all his energy on the World Cup.

After receiving the call-up, Murillo posted a classy message on Instagram, which read: “Too happy for you, my brother. I love you, Pivete. Represent us there, your time has now come.”

Forest might have dropped the ball by letting Danilo go, and perhaps the club will look to re-sign him during the summer transfer window.

Murillo clearly had a good relationship with Danilo during his time at Forest, and now, it will be fascinating to see what role he plays for Brazil at this summer’s tournament.

As for the Forest defender, he will have to hope and pray that his time for the national team comes in the future.
