Nottingham Forest will use Chelsea star as a benchmark for Elliot Anderson valuation

Nottingham Forest have a star boy in their ranks, and this summer, Elliot Anderson will have lots of eyes on him at the World Cup.

Anderson signed for Forest from Newcastle in a PSR stunt between the two clubs in 2024. The fee of £35 million was sweetened by the fact that Newcastle took Odysseas Vlachodimos off Forest for £20 million.

If we have to sell Elliot Anderson this summer, how much should we demand for his signature?🤑

Forest were the clear winners of that deal, and in Newcastle’s defence, it makes a mockery of the PSR regulations that actively selling players nurtured by your own club is encouraged.

Still, Newcastle’s loss is Forest’s gain and now, as clubs prepare to make offers for Anderson, Evangelos Marinakis has been busy doing his due diligence.

Nottingham Forest use Moises Caicedo as Elliot Anderson benchmark

The record transfer fee for a British player is currently the £105 million that West Ham received when Arsenal landed Declan Rice.

However, Forest are aiming bigger when it comes to what they want to receive for Anderson, with The Telegraph of the belief that Marinakis is intrigued that Chelsea paid £115 million for Caicedo, who operates in the same position as the Forest number eight.

Caicedo has proved a pretty good signing for Chelsea since checking in from Brighton, and now Marinakis wants to receive a similar amount when it comes to selling Anderson this summer.

The 23-year-old has been virtually ever-present for the last two seasons, and the fact that he’s now a regular England international should allow Forest to get the amount they crave for their midfield star.

Marinakis isn’t actively looking to sell anyone this summer, with Forest well within the parameters of PSR following the sale of Anthony Elanga 12 months ago.

What message would YOU send to Vitor Pereira ahead of next season? What’s he done well and what does he need to change?

Still, if the big clubs come calling, Forest might be powerless, but this latest update suggests that in no circumstances will the club be offloading Anderson on the cheap and being bullied into accepting a low offer.

Marinakis doesn’t mess about in the transfer market and any club that wants to sign the sought-after number eight will have to dig deep.
