Morgan Gibbs-White won’t be heading to the World Cup with England despite some heroic Nottingham Forest form.
Despite 18 goals and seven assists, it wasn’t enough to tempt Thomas Tuchel to name the Forest star in his travelling party for the World Cup.
Gibbs-White has been quizzed about his rejection by the England boss and has remained classy when he must be somewhat gutted inside.
Now, the number 10 has not only been speaking about his rejection but also shared what Tuchel told him during the phone call.

What Thomas Tuchel told Morgan Gibbs-White
Gibbs-White will naturally be gutted to miss out on selection but in his mind, it wasn’t entirely unexpected for him to receive this call.
He’s been telling TalkSPORT exactly what the England boss said to him and it would appear that there are no hard feelings at all.
He said: “I think I got the call on Thursday, it was a good honest conversation.
“He just said that he thinks he’s got people ahead of me right now and it’s nothing to do with you, you’ve done everything you could have possibly done and I’ve really enjoyed watching you this last six months and that I’m unfortunate with the way things are.
“He’s a top manager, I appreciate the call and he didn’t have to call me to tell me but he did, so I do appreciate that.
“For me personally, it’s difficult, because you try and put yourself in the best situation to go and I believe I did.
“I’m on the wrong end of an opinion and I’ve been in that place before in my career, and it’s just another hurdle for me to overcome.”
Gibbs-White is clearly determined to keep proving people wrong.
The Forest number 10 might know that he’s got what it takes to play for England but the challenge for him now is to continue playing regularly at Forest and remain in the goals and assists.
Forest fans worship Gibbs-White, and the player will go into his fifth consecutive season at the City Ground next season.
This England setback is frustrating and Tuchel’s reasons for leaving him at home don’t make a great deal of sense.
He’s shown this season that he can play on the flank or as a number 10 and England could live to regret not taking one of the form players in the country right now.
