It’s been a pretty rough maiden season at Nottingham Forest for James McAtee.
The attacker signed for £30 million from Manchester City last summer, but he’s been unable to get much game time, with Morgan Gibbs-White in the form of his life ahead of him.
🤝Who should be the FIRST player sold by Nottingham Forest this summer?
McAtee was linked with a move away from Forest in January, but with European football still on the fixture list at that point, he was kept as part of the squad.
Now, with the season drawing to a close at the weekend, a claim has been made about the future of McAtee at the City Ground.

What Forest officials have said about James McAtee
According to The Telegraph, it’s believed that Vitor Pereira wants McAtee to become a star attraction on Trentside next season.
It’s of the publication’s belief that a club official has suggested McAtee can do things in training sessions that others can only dream of doing.
Pereira did give McAtee a little bit more game time than Sean Dyche did, and he seemingly had a lot more time for the fringe players, giving them confidence when they were called upon.
McAtee is a talented player, and he will feel that he’s got something to offer to the Forest team next season if, as expected, Pereira signs his new deal.
What message would YOU send to Vitor Pereira ahead of next season? What’s he done well and what does he need to change?
McAtee played in 26 matches in all competitions during 2025/26, scoring once and claiming two assists, but starting games has been hard to come by.
Now, this latest report suggests there could be more to come from him next year and it’s positive that Forest aren’t willing to wash their hands of him just yet.
