Nottingham Forest star Taiwo Awoniyi came into his own under Vitor Pereira and now he’s highlighted his future plans.
Much has been made about Awoniyi over the years. He often looks unorthodox in his style of play, but whenever the chips are down, he’s proved that he can score goals in the Premier League.

Let us know in the comments below!
Awoniyi was constantly overlooked by Sean Dyche and wasn’t included in the Europa League squad across the campaign by any of the club’s managers.
However, Pereira gave him a new lease of life and he finished the season scoring important goals against Chelsea and Tottenham, with Awoniyi in no doubt over where his future lies.

Taiwo Awoniyi wants to stay at Nottingham Forest
In an interview with SportsBoom, Awoniyi has revealed that he’s keen to remain with Forest next season and believes the team will be much better.
Awoniyi’s goals proved key in the end and despite the fact that he’s not been considered a regular starter, it appears he wants to stay put at the football club.
He said: “The club has shown faith in me when I was down, so we will see what happens next.
“My family and I are settled here in Nottingham, a great city. Next season, we will be better.
“At the end, it was an amazing season for us. Looking at how far we went in the Europa League, and looking at how we went about the season.
“Many said we’d be relegated but we turned the negativity around. It was a good season for the club, the players and everyone.”
Awoniyi makes intriguing Nigeria claim
Given sporadic minutes on the pitch for Forest, it was perhaps viewed that Awoniyi had missed out on the latest Nigeria squad.
The Super Eagles are currently playing in a four-team tournament in London with Zimbabwe, Jamaica and India, with Awoniyi seemingly called up for the event.
However, the Forest man rejected the call from the Super Eagles, amid some personal issues to attend to.
🤝Who should be the FIRST player sold by Nottingham Forest this summer?
He continued: “I was supposed to be in the Super Eagles camp, but I opted out because of personal reasons I have to attend to.
“We have lots of talents in the Super Eagles, so for me, everyone that is in the team for the friendlies is as good as me, just as I’m as good as them.”
Awoniyi will now hope to return to pre-season training with a point to prove all over again and Pereira might just be the perfect manager for this stage of his career.
