Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson will be hoping to make waves at the World Cup with England as interest in his signature continues to intensify.

The Forest number eight has enjoyed another stunning campaign at the City Ground, and now Anderson has Manchester City eyeing a move to sign him.

If Manchester City were to offer a player to sweeten the Elliot Anderson deal, who would you like included?

Anderson will park any notion of a transfer for the moment, with England set to get their World Cup campaign underway in the coming weeks.

Ahead of the tournament getting started in the United States, pundits have been making their predictions and Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney are on the same page regarding Anderson.

Shearer and Rooney back Anderson for stardom

As part of the live BBC analysis team, both pundits have been delivering their predictions on the tournament, with Anderson backed for success.

Both Shearer and Rooney have backed Anderson to be the one to watch at the World Cup.

Shearer said: “Really? Has everyone said that? Yes, I think he’s had an amazing season, had a really good time since he went to Forest, and I think he looks so comfortable in an England shirt.”

Rooney concurred and offered: “Elliot Anderson, I really like him, he’s done so well at Forest.”

Anderson is almost certain to start for England at the World Cup, with Declan Rice likely to slot in alongside him for Thomas Tuchel’s team.

What the future holds for the young midfielder remains to be seen, but it does feel as though Forest might struggle to keep hold of him beyond this summer.

Forest will command a fee that sees the club rake in significant profit if Anderson does get sold, and given how well he might do at the World Cup, Forest might be willing to wait until after the tournament to iron out his future.
