Neco Williams and Callum Hudson-Odoi have been in fine form since they both arrived at Nottingham Forest.

Williams checked in shortly after promotion to the Premier League, whilst Hudson-Odoi arrived a year later to help Forest after Brennan Johnson departed for Tottenham.

The pair have seen a very high turnover of players since they checked in at the City Ground, and this week, a former teammate of both players decided to call time on his career.

Divock Origi announces retirement from football

It’s fair to say that the time spent at Forest by Origi won’t live long in the memory.

The striker arrived on loan from AC Milan and managed to bag a single goal in an FA Cup replay against Bristol City at the City Ground.

Origi made just 22 appearances for Forest but brought the curtain down on a career that proved otherwise colourful.

His time at Liverpool saw him win the Champions League and Premier League, scoring 41 times from 175 appearances and proving the man for the big occasion.

After announcing his retirement, he’s received some messages from several of his former teammates, including Williams and Hudson-Odoi.

After Origi announced his decision, Forest posted on Instagram: “Congratulations on your career and good luck for the future, Divock.”

That was followed by some wordless posts from Forest players Williams and Hudson-Odoi, with the former posting the applause emoji and the latter opting for love hearts.

Clearly, although Origi had a minimal impact on the pitch, he was a good teammate in the dressing room during a tricky campaign for Forest.

It remains to be seen what life after football looks like for Origi but at 31, the fact he’s called time perhaps comes as a bit of a surprise.
