Anderson has been the subject of interest from Manchester City this summer, but right now, he’s focused on the World Cup.

Forest will take care of Anderson’s future whilst he’s at the tournament in the United States, and it will be interesting to see whether anything is resolved before England’s first game.

Elliot Anderson gets England first vs Costa Rica

The Forest number eight played in midfield alongside Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice for the first time in this World Cup warm-up match.

It looked like a midfield that England simply have to start with at the World Cup, and after 20 minutes, it felt as though Anderson was integral to everything that England did.

In the very first minute, he was clattered by a Costa Rica defender, but as he always does, he dusted himself down and started to do what he does best.

There was an eerie moment for Forest fans to contend with when Anderson went down under a clash of heads with Costa Rica striker Manfred Ugalde.

How much should we do business for when it comes to Elliot Anderson?

Will we get the £115m that Brighton managed to squeeze out of Chelsea for Moises Caicedo?

He was fine to continue, however, and it was quite impressive just how at home Anderson looks in an England shirt, considering his relative inexperience at this level.

The run-out proved a good one for England against Costa Rica, and now Anderson is almost certain to get himself a start next week against Croatia.

It would be fantastic if Forest could resist the urge to sell Anderson before he really gets going at the World Cup, as there is every chance that he could truly star for the Three Lions at the tournament.
