Angus Gunn is there with Scotland, but he has been released by Forest this week, and a number of former players will also be at the tournament.

Micah Richards hails ex-Forest star Danilo

Danilo left Forest in the summer of 2025, and now the Reds might just rue that decision.

The midfielder is heading to the World Cup with the heavily fancied Brazil, and he will have a part to play in Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

Richards has admitted he’s been impressed with Danilo since he left Forest and is looking forward to watching him at the World Cup.

He told The Rest is Football podcast: “Do you know who I really like?

“Do you remember Danilo, who was at Nottingham Forest.

“You didn’t really see him, but for Brazil, he’s a different player, the way he presses, and he gets the ball back. So I’m excited for Brazil.”

Danilo has made Forest rue the decision to let him leave the football club last summer, developing a knack for scoring goals at Botafogo.

The Brazilian has been linked with Fulham and Manchester United this summer and a return to the Premier League looks to be on the cards.

If he comes back to England and continues his fine form, there could be even more regrets from a Forest point of view.
