England drew 0-0 with Ghana as Elliot Anderson failed to replicate his Nottingham Forest form from the 2025/26 campaign.

Anderson was starting for the second successive game, and although he tried to get things going, a dogged performance from Ghana stifled his ability to break through the lines.

Forest fans have certainly seen more from Anderson in the past, but nonetheless, he did commit himself to the England cause throughout.

It was a frustrating result for England, and after the game, Ian Wright delivered his verdict on the performance of Forest star Anderson.

Ian Wright delivers verdict on Elliot Anderson

Wright has been very complimentary of Anderson in recent times, but last night he delivered a pretty harsh verdict.

He actually felt that Anderson should have been subbed earlier than he actually was against Ghana.

He said on The Overlap: “Elliot Anderson, I didn’t think Elliot played particularly well today.

“I didn’t think it went brilliantly for him. And remember, in the last game, he dropped Jude back.

“I think he could have done that maybe, and maybe taken Elliot off.”

Anderson can kick-start himself vs Panama

The Forest man can play better than he did last night against Ghana, and he should get the chance to play against Panama on Saturday.

Declan Rice had a very heavy strapping on his leg as he walked through the mixed zone after Tuesday’s game, and he might be rested against Panama.

Do you think Thomas Tuchel now regrets not taking Morgan Gibbs-White to the World Cup

England looked devoid of ideas against Ghana!😡

With that in mind, it’s unlikely Thomas Tuchel will want his whole midfield changing, and that could lead to Anderson playing a third successive game.

England should have more joy against Panama, and anything other than a win would have to be deemed as a catastrophic failure.
