Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson and Declan Rice are currently the men tasked with pulling the strings for England at the World Cup.

The Reds’ number eight is attracting vast transfer interest with Manchester City pushing hard to sign Anderson this summer.

Elliot Anderson wants to win a major tournament with England – can the Three Lions claim glory at the World Cup this year?

The talented midfielder helped Forest reach the Europa League in his first season at the club and was also a standout performer last term.

He was handed a first England start at a major tournament against Croatia last week and should keep his place for tonight’s game against Ghana.

Declan Rice makes Elliot Anderson claim

Ahead of England’s second group game, Anderson was the subject of discussion during Rice’s press conference.

The midfielder was very complimentary on the Forest star and has hinted that he has a big decision still to make this summer.

Rice told the BBC: “He’s top level…the season he had at Forest was incredible and obvious, now there’s a lot of speculation around him and a move.

“He fully deserves what’s coming to him, just because of how he is as a person – he’s so calm and level-headed, so humble.

“He’s got a big decision to make, and knowing him, he will make the right decision.”

Anderson fully focused on England

Anderson is mature beyond his years, and it’s no surprise that he’s not keen to get embroiled in any transfer saga right now.

The midfielder’s intention at the moment is to help England try to lift a first World Cup since 1966.

Anderson is determined to keep his place, and alongside Rice and Jude Bellingham in midfield, there is hope England can achieve something this summer.

Anderson could well leave Forest this summer, but for now, the Reds can marvel at his performance levels on the grandest stage of all.
