Ian Wright thinks Oliver Glasner has joined Nottingham Forest for more money
Speaking on Stick to Football, Wright made the harsh assessment that Glasner’s decision is money-motivated.
“I’m thinking that he’s leaving because, obviously at Palace he didn’t want to sell Guehi, he didn’t want to sell Eze, he wants to keep the players, but then he’s gone to Forest, the chaotic Forest.
“I can only believe that he’s left Palace to go to Forest because there’s probably more money.
“There’s nothing wrong with it.”
Name one Crystal Palace star you’d love to see join Glasner at Forest 👀
There’s no doubt Glasner will likely receive a pay rise, but his motivation to become the new Forest boss goes far beyond that.
Many fail to mention the positives of working under Marinakis, who gets unfairly criticised in the media at times.
The 51-year-old will be heavily backed in the summer transfer window, with Nuno Espirito Santo given in excess of £200m to spend last summer.
The Greek businessman has also shown that he will put his foot down and refuse offers for the club’s best players.
Morgan Gibbs-White, who looked certain to leave for Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester City last summer, penned a new contract to extend his stay in the East Midlands.
So, the sporting project is very attractive, and there is a good group of players ready to kick on towards Europe.
With a few more additions, Forest are well-placed to leapfrog Palace in the food chain and challenge for the top six.
