It emerged on Wednesday afternoon that Vitor Pereira was leaving Nottingham Forest.

It came as a real shock to Nottingham Forest supporters, and Vitor Pereira has since come out and admitted his surprise at the decision, too.

“I want to say a sincere thank you to everyone connected with this incredible football club. Although this decision came as a complete surprise to me and without any warning, I fully respect the club’s right to make the decisions it believes are best for its future,” part of Pereira’s statement read.

That said, Oliver Glasner is on the verge of becoming Forest’s new manager after leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the season.

Ahead of Glasner’s arrival, we’ve looked at how he usually fares in his debut campaign.

A good appointment? 🤔

Oliver Glasner has an impressive record in his first season

Nottingham Forest fans should be very encouraged ahead of Glasner’s first season in charge of the club.

The 51-year-old has a very impressive record in his debut seasons, most notably winning the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt and Crystal Palace’s first-ever FA Cup.

He also laid the foundations at LASK in his first year, finishing as runners-up, before winning the league title the season after.

At Wolfsburg, Glasner made an immediate impact, helping the German outfit qualify for the Europa League.

So, there is good reason to suggest that Forest will get off to a flyer under the Austrian boss, with the data indicating his style is quick to implement.

The players occasionally played a back-three under Nuno Espirito Santo, so many will already have a good grasp of the system.

Glasner’s first pre-season game will take place on the 18th of July, with Forest taking on Notts County at Meadow Lane.

He will then take the Forest squad to Portugal for a hot-weather camp, with fixtures against Blackburn Rovers, Vitoria SC and Sporting CP.
