The Austrian head coach arrives after walking away from Crystal Palace at the end of his contract.

Vitor Pereira announced his departure from the City Ground last week, and Marinakis appears to have been keen to make the appointment of Glasner for a little while.

What Marinakis has said swayed him towards Oliver Glasner

This appointment has sent shockwaves across the Premier League, with Glasner previously linked with Manchester United and AC Milan this summer.

The serial trophy winner will now hope to work some magic on the Forest squad and kick them to a new level in the Premier League.

After announcing the appointment, Marinakis included some words on the appointment, and he explained why he was keen to get a deal for Glasner over the line.

He said: “In our discussions with Oliver, it was clear that we share the same vision, the same ambition and the same relentless desire to succeed. He has consistently demonstrated throughout his career that he can build outstanding teams and deliver success against the strongest competition.

“It has always been our goal to establish Nottingham Forest once again among the leading clubs in England and Europe. Our ambition is not simply to compete – our ambition is to win, to challenge for major honours and to create a football club that our supporters can be proud of for many years to come.

“Oliver is a winner. He has earned success through his leadership, his personality and the style of football his teams play. We believe he is the right person to lead us into this next chapter, and I am delighted to welcome Oliver to the Club.”

Glasner now has to ensure that he can get to work quickly with his group of players and get his methods across to the players sharpish.

With the head coach normally adopting a 3-4-3 formation, there is no time for the Reds to waste this summer, and hopefully, some new faces will arrive too.

Marinakis has played this ambitious card as he looks to get the Reds challenging for honours, and now he must give Glasner the time he craves to oversee this particular project.
