Neco Williams will hope to be a big part of Oliver Glasner’s plans at Nottingham Forest next season.
The reigning Player of the Year has enjoyed some downtime this summer, with Wales failing to qualify for the World Cup.

Williams has been a pillar of consistency over the last two seasons, and since moving over to left-back, he’s been superb.
Now, on the day that Glasner was announced as the new Forest head coach, Williams showcased his class in a gesture towards his predecessor.
Neco Williams thanks Vitor Pereira
Pereira announced he was leaving Forest last week, and that came as a bit of a surprise to the fanbase.
It was all geared up that he would be overseeing the 2026/27 campaign after keeping Forest up with two games to spare and reaching the Europa League semi-final last season.

However, the pull of getting Glasner proved too strong for Evangelos Marinakis, and as a result, the Portuguese boss has departed the club.
Williams posted a picture of himself with Pereira on Instagram with the message: “Thank you, gaffer, wishing you all the best for the next stage in your career.”
Williams is a classy player, and clearly his heart is in the right place when it comes to the managers he operates under, too.

It’s clear that Pereira was popular with the Forest players, and as a result, Glasner will have some work to do in order to keep the spirits high.
Williams should thrive as one of Glasner’s wing-backs, however, and although it’ll take some time to get over Pereira, it does feel as though Marinakis has made the right call.
