Nottingham Forest are looking to provide Ola Aina with some competition for his place this summer.

The Nigerian defender missed a lot of last season through injury, and with Nicolo Savona linked with Atalanta, a new right-sided defender is being sought.

Oliver Glasner has already informed Evangelos Marinakis that he needs a new right-back this summer, and it looks as though things are heating up in that sense.

Forest’s recruitment drive will be a meticulous one this summer and now there is news of a bid for a new right-back.

What should Oliver Glasner’s target be in the Premier League this season? 🤔

Oliver Glasner question.

Nottingham Forest want Givairo Read

According to the Dutch outlet FR12, Forest are set to submit an opening offer for Read.

The Feyenoord defender has caught the eye over the past 12 months after breaking through to make Eredivisie appearances.

A 20-year-old defender, Read showcased his quality last season when operating as a right-back, and he’s attracting interest across Europe’s top leagues.

Read made 20 appearances last season for Feyenoord, including three in the Europa League, scoring twice and registering three assists.

Feyenoord hold the aces when it comes to the negotiations, with the Dutch right-back having a contract until 2029.

Read wins more duels than Ola Aina

Although Aina will likely remain the first-choice right-back in Glasner’s team, there is a sense that Read would be tailor-made for a wing-back role.

SofaScore shows that Read wins more ground duels on average per game than Aina and is just as quick, with the two players producing the same top speed last season.

🤝Oliver Glasner is the new Nottingham Forest head coach but what is the one piece of advice you would give the new man?

Aina’s injury record hasn’t been good over the last 12 months, and having a young option like Read would make perfect sense for the Reds.

Whether Forest can get a deal for Read over the line remains to be seen, but with Glasner now in place, the Reds might have become a more attractive proposition for any potential new signings.
