Oliver Glasner is one week into his reign as the Nottingham Forest head coach, and the work will intensify this week.

Forest overcame Notts County 2-0 at the weekend with Igor Jesus and Arnaud Kalimuendo scoring the goals.

Attention will turn towards games in Portugal for Forest now, with the club working hard to get transfers finalised behind the scenes.

Glasner will want to sign a few new players before the season gets underway, with Xaver Schlager set to sign for Forest having played under the Forest head coach previously.

Now, other players are being identified by the Reds ahead of a summer recruitment drive, with Glasner keen to sign a player he’s admired for a while.

Nottingham Forest want Ousmane Diomande

According to Record, Forest want to sign Diomande, with the player high on the shortlist of Crystal Palace ahead of last season when Glasner was in charge.

The 22-year-old is currently with Sporting Lisbon, where he has made 132 appearances and turned out for them in the Champions League.

It’s likely that a club in a top European division will try to take a chance on Diomande this summer, with Glasner a huge fan of the central defender.

Diomande was a teammate of Ibrahim Sangare’s at the World Cup during the summer, with the centre-back making one appearance in the 2-0 win over Curaçao.

Diomande won’t come cheap to any club that wants him this summer. It’s believed that the Ivory Coast star will be valued at a minimum of £47 million before Sporting will even consider a sale.

Glasner clearly likes Diomande

For a long period of last summer, it looked as though Palace were going to pull off a coup and sign Diomande.

Where would Nottingham Forest finish in the Premier League with a back three of Murillo, Diomande and Milenkovic?

However, Sporting managed to stand firm and keep hold of their star defender as they enjoyed a solid run to the quarter-final of the Champions League.

Diomande looks as though he might be on the move this summer, however, and Glasner will hope he doesn’t miss out on the Ivorian performer for a second time.
